Redeemed and Rewritten - Part XI
Scripture:
“Do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.” Romans 11:18
Observation:
This Sunday's sermon reminded us that although Israel stumbled, they did not fall. God’s promises remain, and His mercy continues to pursue His people. Paul explains that the salvation coming to the Gentiles was also a means to make Israel envious, to stir a hunger for the relationship with God that they once rejected.
This made me reflect and ask myself, “Does my life make others curious about Jesus?”
When people see me facing difficulties with peace, do they wonder where that peace comes from? When they see joy in the middle of hardship, do they ask about the source of that joy? When they witness generosity, faithfulness, and perseverance, do they see Jesus in me?
Pastor Julius spoke about abiding in the Lord – how some branches were broken off because they were not connected to the root – they did not remain in Him. He reminded us, through the Word, that strength, blessings, and fruitfulness come only from staying close to Jesus. We don’t support the root; the root supports us. Paul’s ministry wasn’t simply about preaching with words, but living in such a way that others desired what he had in Christ.
Application:
God has called me to live generously. Over the years, I have learned that giving is not a burden; it is a blessing. I feel most alive when I am blessing others with my time, resources, encouragement, and love.
What amazes me is how God uses generosity. He not only blesses the recipient, but He transforms the giver. Every time I step out in obedience, God proves Himself faithful. He multiplies what is given and provides for me in ways I could never have expected. Giving of ourselves, especially sacrificially, develops our trust in God. Generous living reminds us that everything we have is His. It looks different for all. For me, it’s opening my home when I want to isolate myself. It’s calling to check on a friend when I’m going through it myself. It’s paying for a meal or giving to someone in need. It is in knowing that when the branches of life become heavy, He is my very root and foundation.
As I look back on the victories, the open doors, the healing, and the constant provision, I see that it is His supply of strength that carried me through difficult seasons; I know that others are watching. When they see the struggles, they can’t help but also see God’s faithfulness in each victory.
There have been moments when others have asked questions, sought encouragement, or drawn closer to God just because they have witnessed His work in my life. Obedience to God always brings a blessing. Remaining in Him will be a testimony that points others to Christ.
As we walk out this journey of salvation, trusting in God every step, may our lives be just that — a living testimony. And may that testimony cause others to say, “I’ll have what they’re having.” Not because of anything we have done or anything we can do, but solely because of the God we serve.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your mercy, grace, and faithfulness. Thank You that, even when we stumble, You are able to restore us. Help us remain connected to You, the true root and source of life. Let our lives reflect Your peace, joy, generosity, and love so clearly that others are drawn to You. Use our victories, our struggles, and our testimony for Your glory. May our obedience inspire others to truly seek You. I am so thankful that Heaven knows my name because I belong to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
