I Can I Will I must
Scripture
“Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:8-9 NLT
Observation
I love this part of scripture. At the beginning of the book of Joshua, the Bible tells us that the Lord spoke to Joshua and called him to lead His people the rest of the way, to the Promised Land (Joshua 1:1-2). Further, in verse 3, He tells Joshua that the land He will place his feet on has been given to him by God! Think about that. The Lord Himself called Joshua to take on this huge task, which must have been really intimidating, but God promised him that He would be with him!
How often do we feel called to do something out of our comfort zone, and we immediately feel a sense of doubt or nervousness? I recently was praying, and asked God if He had a plan for me, and asked Him to tell me what it was. Very shortly after, I received an answer. It was to do something out of my comfort zone; something that I thought I was not going to do for a long time. Instantly, I was nervous. But I remembered His truth: '...be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9 NLT).
When we meditate on His Word daily, and we focus on keeping our prayer life strong, we will be reminded of His promises. When it is His will that He’s called you to, He WILL carry you through it. And whether the end result looks the way you’d like it to or not, it’s always His end result and His will that will be done. Take courage and be faithful in His promises for you! He will get you to the finish line; whether it is blessing you with abundance, or blessing you with wisdom and knowledge. He has the perfect plans. Trust Him.
Application
Think of a time where you feel as though God called you to do something out of your comfort zone- but it was for something good. What was your first reaction? Did you shut down, and refuse the calling, or did you take a moment to pray to Him for guidance and direction? I want to encourage you to spend time in His Word daily, and make sure your prayer life is the most important thing in your life. When you make sure to keep Him at the center, He will bless you through everything you do!
Prayer
Lord, thank You for remaining true to Your Word. Thank You that when we take the time to keep You at the center, and we have a relationship with You, You bless us on every step we take. I pray that You work on us to be more prayerful, and You cover us with direction and clarity. Thank You for what You will continue to do in our lives, through our faith in You.
In Jesus’ name. Amen!
